The Windows® Vista® operating system and Tomb Raider game were installed on the SSD and the game was played for over 40 minutes while the SSD was shaking like crazy. Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James said, “It’s obvious when you see this video that no hard drive could sustain that kind of beating. Our MasterDrive SSDs, on the other hand, with no moving parts, are made for exactly this type of torture.”

The drive used in this test is the MasterDrive MX, part number FTM20GK25H, which is a 120GB SSD that retails for about $670 at NewEgg and NewBiiz.

Super Talent will showcase it’s complete range of Flash and DRAM products at the Computex Convention in Taipei June 3-7 at Nangang Hall Area 4F #N518.

Super Talent Announces 120 GB SSD For $650

8:50 AM - May 6, 2008 by Jane McEntegart on Tomshardware.com

California based Super Talent Technology made waves yesterday when it announced that all of its latest MasterDrive MX SSDs are to be priced under $1000.

With the Solid-state Drive looking more and more appealing as the days go by it was only a matter of time before the prices started to drop, however the fact that this drop occurred so suddenly is quite a surprise. Not too long ago Super Talent announced the 2.5” 256 GB SATA SSD for a little under $6,000.

The MasterDrive MX is available in 30 GB, 60 GB, and 120 GB versions, which are priced at $299, $449, and $649 respectively, which is amazing value. Unfortunately, the affordable prices do mean there’s got to be a catch somewhere. The MasterDrive MXs contain MLC NAND memory which means that while the read speed is a fairly respectable 120 MB/sec, write speeds aren’t nearly as good as what you’d get with an SLC drive.

Super Talent does do an SLC version, the MasterDrive DX but you pay for performance. The 30 GB version is going to set you back $699 while the 60 GB version is priced at $1,299, with those extra few bucks upping your write performance from 40 MB/sec to 70 MB/sec.

The price of SSD storage is set, according to some industry analysts, to half every nine months with prices now entering the truly mainstream end of the market.

Super Talent Launches MLC SATA-II SSDs for Notebooks

Super Talent Launches MLC SATA-II SSDs for Notebooks

High-Speed MasterDrive SSDs Offer Unprecedented Performance & Reliability<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

San Jose, California – May 6, 2008 – Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of Flash storage solutions and DRAM memory modules, today launched a new line of MasterDrive solid state drives (SSDs) that are 100% interchangeable with hard disk drives (HDDs), but are faster, lighter, use less power and are far more rugged and reliable.

MasterDrive SSDs use NAND Flash rather than magnetic platters as the storage medium, giving them many advantages over HDDs. These drives have no moving parts, and therefore are completely silent, lighter weight and more reliable than HDDs. Moreover, they consume a fraction of the power of HDDs, meaning they produce less heat and offer longer battery life in mobile computing. MasterDrive SSDs use a SATA-II (3Gbps) interface to support high bandwidth and broad compatibility with motherboards, and have a standard 2.5-inch form factor. Proprietary wear-leveling algorithms extend the life of these SSDs.

"These new SSDs are a rugged, lightning fast, low power storage alternative for mobile professionals and enthusiasts. With such overwhelming benefits, MasterDrive SSDs are sure to revolutionize mobile storage”, commented Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James.

MasterDrive DX drives employ SLC NAND Flash to support astounding sequential read and write speeds up to 120 and 70 MB/sec respectively, and are backed with a three year warranty. MasterDrive MX drives use MLC Flash to achieve maximum sequential read/write speeds of 120 and 40 MB/sec, and include a 1-year warranty. MasterDrive SSDs are available now from NewEgg and eWiz.

Super Talent also manufactures ultra-rugged DuraDrive SSDs in capacities up to 256GB. These profiles make it much easier to overclock memory and squeeze incremental performance from the PC. XMP was designed to optimize memory performance with motherboards based on Intel P35 and X38 chipsets.

Super Talent’s Project X DDR3 memory announced last week was designed from the beginning with native support for XMP. Both these Project X kits, shipping now, support XMP:

According to Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James, “Project X was designed to support XMP from the very start, so every Project X kit we’ve ever shipped already supports XMP.” Mr. James added, “We’re very happy to bring new performance enhancing features like XMP to market through our partnership with Intel. XMP replaces the pain of tweaking every individual memory parameter with the simplicity of selecting a single performance profile to optimize memory timings.”

Project X DDR3 memory is developed in Super Talent’s Silicon Valley Engineering Labs to deliver the highest attainable DDR3 memory performance. Project X memory combines blistering fast clock speeds with aggressively tuned latencies, XMP support and an extreme cooling solution. Project X is the ultimate DDR3 memory for gaming and extreme performance computing. Super Talent will showcase its full range of flash and memory products including Project X at the Intel Developers Forum (IDF) this week in San Francisco.

Super Talent SSD Drive Wins DISKCON USA Best of Show Award

San Jose, California – September 26, 2007 -- Super Talent Technology, a leading manufacturer of memory and storage solutions, captured the Best of Show award at the DISKCON USA 2007. Super Talent’s new 128GB Serial ATA drive, offered in 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors, won the coveted award over scores of other new products from the industry’s leading storage vendors.

Super Talent’s Solid State Disk (SSD) Drives are based on flash chips rather than rotating magnetic platters as the storage medium. SSDs are completely interchangeable with industry standard hard disk drives; they conform to the same physical dimensions as hard drives, and use the same SATA interface as hard drives, making them functionally identical.

But SSDs offer numerous advantages over conventional hard drives. With no moving parts, SSDs are far more rugged and reliable than hard drives. Moreover, SSDs use about 80% less power, produce less heat and zero noise, and offer compelling performance advantages over hard drives. These products both support over 60 MB/sec sustained read and 45 MB/sec sustained write speeds:

Super Talent Marketing Director, Joe James commented, “This prestigious award validates all the R&D work we’ve poured into our SSD products over the past two years. We’re extremely honored. We’re anticipating a wide scale adoption of SSD drives in the near future due to the significant advantages they offer over hard drives.” These products are both shipping now. Approximate street price for both models is $4499.

TechReport Stunned by Super Talent 128GB SSD's Performance

Load times are very fast with the [Super Talent] SATA25... As an active member of the JEDEC Association, Super Talent engineers helped define the DDR3 standards for unbuffered DIMMs, SO-DIMMs, and registered DIMMs. As DDR2 approaches the limits of what it can reach in clock speeds at around 1000MHz, DDR3 will support significantly higher clock speeds, scaling up to 1600MHz or higher in the coming year. Although JEDEC specs for DDR3 begin at 800MHz, DDR3-800 will be skipped over completely in favor of 1066MHz or faster speeds. The current drive among DRAM chip fabs toward smaller manufacturing geometries will likely result in sharp increases in DDR3 clock speeds later this year.

DDR3 operates at only 1.5 Volts, versus 1.8V for DDR2. According to Ohms Law (P = I x V), power consumption is directly proportional to operating voltage. So this voltage reduction results in a dramatic reduction in power consumption. A DDR3 module will use approximately 17% less power than a DDR2 module of the same speed. Of course, higher frequency memory draws more current, so faster DDR3 modules will still draw as much or more power than their slower DDR2 siblings.

Super Talent has been testing our own DDR3 modules for months now. We have built sample modules using several different DRAM vendors. Due to our early investment in DDR3 technology, we are now able to offer 1066 and 1333MHz DDR3 modules and kits. These products have been tested extensively on multiple P35 motherboards to ensure compatibility and reliability. Dual Channel kits have been tested as a matched pair to guarantee performance at their rated specs.

Because high-speed DDR3 modules do generate more heat, Super Talent attaches distinctive black High Efficiency (HE) cast aluminum heat spreaders to our Extreme Performance modules. Our Desktop grade modules are cooled by our Classic aluminum heat spreaders. These products will be available in June from Super Talent, and higher speed and lower latency DDR3 products will be introduced soon.
<img width='1' height='1' Our new 4GB FB-DIMM doubles previous memory scalability limits in high-end servers. These 4GB FB-DIMMs were designed for use in the latest Intel® Xeon® server boards based on the Intel 5000P (Blackford) chipset. These JEDEC compliant 240-pin dual rank modules are organized as 512Megabit x 72. Thirty-six pieces of 256Megabit x4 DRAM chips in FBGA packages are used to build these modules. These modules have already been validated in the Intel 5000PSL and other leading server boards.

Super Talent is also shattering speed barriers in the server memory subsystem with new 800MHz FB-DIMMs. These modules are designed to deliver both reliability and performance in cutting edge servers. Our 512MB module has already passed validation testing, and is shipping now. 1GB and 2GB models are expected to follow soon. However, these products are built with only solid state Flash components. Since they contain no moving parts, SSD drives have the advantage of being far more rugged and reliable than regular hard drives, while using 85% less power. Moreover, because SSD drives are built using Flash technology, they offer sequential transfer speed comparable to magnetic drives and dramatically faster access speed.

Super Talent designs and manufactures its SSD drives in its state-of-the-art Silicon Valley factory. Super Talent has validated these products in a wide variety of motherboards and laptops to ensure compatibility, and we perform 100% testing on every flash product we build to ensure the highest level of reliability.
